Summertime generally brings an extra challenge of fluid control for dialysis patients (if it wasn’t already hard enough!) This bulletin board helps remind patients of some foods they may not think of as “fluid” that could be problematic for them, and gives some strategies for controlling fluids. And, because we like to talk about “can have” the middle is full of some lighter summer meal fair. Thanks to my student Erin Miller, for her creativity in the layout of this board!

Handout with this board:
I usually combine this bulletin board with this handout (Summer Tips) so we can talk about portions at summer time. Every summer there seems to be confusion with watermelon and peaches and I like to show how much of a larger portion of macaroni salad you can have compared to potato salad if at a barbeque or picnic.
Do you still have the file for a “Summer Picnic on the Renal Diet. June Bulletin Board- Fluids, Thirst, and Lunch Ideas?” I really enjoy this board! Planning on re-creating it for August.
Sending you an email!
