The Kidney Nutrition Institute (KNI) is proud to announce the launch of a specialized pediatric kidney nutrition program. This program provides clarity and support for parents of children diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or polycystic kidney disease (PKD). It helps families make informed decisions about what to feed their children to support their kidneys while also helping them grow and thrive.

“We understand how overwhelming it can be when your child is diagnosed with CKD or PKD,” said Meg Munits RD, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, community leader for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, and mother of three. “That’s why we provide personalized guidance on multiple factors, including the type of kidney disease, stage of kidney disease, lab results, symptoms, other medical conditions and developmental needs.”

The KNI team takes a holistic approach to nutrition, incorporating dietary considerations and lifestyle choices. The goal is to help families make healthy meals that are both delicious and nutrient-rich while avoiding foods that could cause additional harm to the kidneys.

“We want to empower families so they can create meals that meet their child’s nutritional needs while ensuring they get enough energy for growth and development,” continued Meg. “Our team is here to help give parents peace of mind by providing clear direction on what their child should eat at each stage of their journey with kidney health.”

The KNI team has extensive experience in renal nutrition and includes experienced dietitians and are excited to add a pediatric dietitian to our team To learn more about the new Pediatric PKD/CKD Nutrition Program from the Kidney Nutrition Institute, please visit https://kidneynutritioninstitute.org/pediatric-ckd-pkd/
