Eating on the go doesn’t have to mean compromise on nutrition quality or flavor.  Whether it’s a picnic at the park, running late and need to grab something quick, traveling or bringing lunch to dialysis, there are a lot of reasons patients are eating on the go.  This handout is easily adaptable to any of these situations and helps give your patients a variety of quick, tasty on the go options to build a great “sack lunch” that is kidney-friendly too!
Starting with a variety of protein bases (vegetarian options too!) your patients can then clearly see how to choose other food options to go with it, along with ways to add some colorful fruit and veggies that travel well.  If your patients need a little more to meet their nutrition needs, there’s a section of extras to have on hand that they can easily toss into their lunch.
We also provided some additional tips for success, so they can always feel confident and prepared for a busy or away from home day!

This handout is part of our Travel TIps Patient Education Kit that also includes our “Terrific Travel Foods” Wordsearch and “Hello, Summer!” Bulletin Board.
